Stubby the Cat

Who could ever have imagined the joy that lay before me earlier this year, when I had the opportunity to bring my friend Robin Johnson’s very real cat, Stubby, to life with my paintbrushes! Stubby is missing a leg, an eye and half an ear and manages just fine! She saw her cat as a role model for kids who might be battling bullying, self esteem issues and/or physical/emotional challenges. Robin gave me the opportunity and privilege of illustrating Stubby for her future book and has used these illustrations to share Stubby’s story with children in classrooms as they have been open. As the pandemic brought so much disruption to all our lives, Robin’s furry friend came alive in a podcast format as a means to encourage kids as they listen online.
With joy, I celebrate my friend Robin Johnson and her dream of encouraging children with a message of hope that being or feeling different isn’t bad. I invite you to visit and share Robin’s website with the children in your life as she reads them her charming stories of encouragement. You can also download coloring pages I illustrated for your little ones to enjoy while they listen.
